Join the No Cuts to Care Coalition for the Cross-Country Day of Action on April 13 & 14 to stop the cuts to IFHP refugee healthcare.
The federal government has cut 15% of the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) and is introducing unaffordable co-payments for essential healthcare services like medication, mental health support, and vision care.
These cuts start May 1, 2026 and will immediately harm refugees. There is no time to lose!
Co-payments are a denial of care: Refugees depend on this program for basic healthcare. Many already struggle to afford food and housing, so these co-payments will prevent them from getting the care they need.
This co-payment plan will cost Canada more, not less: These barriers to care will make people sicker and put more pressure on already strained hospitals, while healthcare costs rise.
These cuts are part of Carney’s austerity agenda and signal that more cuts are coming. We must oppose all cuts to care. Our communities are healthier when everyone has access to care.

No event is too small! There will be rallies, press conferences, street theatre, and small demonstrations. Get creative! If you’re alone in your city/town, you can even take a photo of yourself with your municipality/riding for posting to social media. The goal is coast to coast to coast action and media attention. We will be providing centralized support with posters, media advisory templates, press release templates, media contacts, social media, etc.
